Saraca thaipingensis is a tree species native to southeast Asia in the family Fabaceae.It has yellow flowers, borne on old wood, and is grown as an ornamental for floral effect. Common names include yellow ashoka and yellow saraca.

FEATURES :     
Huge yellow flowers that appear to grow directly on the stem known as 'cauliflory'. The flowers have no petals obtaining their colour from the outer layer (the sepals.)

USES:     
Ornamental tree that is popular with nectar-feeding birds. Larval host to many butterfly species.

BEST CLIMATE/POSITION :     
Thrives in wet areas in full to part-sun.

PREFERRED SOIL : Prefers mildly acidic to neutral soil.

PROPAGATION    : Scarify seed before sowing.
