Horsfieldia or Malaboda tree is a flowering plant endemic to Sri Lanka that member of the Myristicaceae family. Fast growing tree. Commonly found in wet zone in Sri Lanka along border of  paddy fields, margin of water streams and rivers etc. Sometime may be invasive. Plant dense blooms yellow flower clusters that has been used for offering in religious worship. Also it is a herb of Ayurveda and the tree is sometimes harvested from the wild for its wood, essential oil, and a wax that can be obtained from its fruit. It is cultivated as an ornamental in parts of Asia.
